Good to plan after you buy
Small things many buyers in Nigeria sort out in the first weeks.
- Get it inspected before paying. An independent mechanic's check and computer scan can save you costly surprises. Find help in Lagos
- Confirm the customs papers. Make sure the customs papers match the car's VIN before you pay. Find help in Lagos
- Check the tyres' age. Look for the 4-digit date on each tyre wall (1021 means week 10 of 2021). Tyres over about 6 years old are worth replacing, even when the tread looks fine. Find help in Lagos
- Re-service or install a tracker. If the car has a tracker from its last owner, have it re-registered in your name; if not, a tracker with a remote immobiliser is worth considering. Find help in Lagos
